SAFETY STARTS WITH ME

WE OPERATE IN A CONTROLLED AND SECURE ENVIRONMENT

Every employee – despite how challenging their workstation may be – deserves to return home in the same condition they showed up to work in. Therefore, we have a pivotal focus in accuracy and quality in establishing safe work practices, good behaviour and areas of work.

We advocate for a safety-first-always culture. This means that we actively work towards incident/accident-free zones where we share the responsibility for always ensuring safety, good behaviour and best practice. While it is management’s responsibility to provide continuous education and training to enhance safety programmes and visibility – ensuring that safety is adhered to is a joint duty and responsibility.

We support and strongly drive the principle of “Visible Felt Leadership – VFL”.

THE HEALTH OF OUR EMPLOYEES IS PARAMOUNT

We are committed to managing the health of all employees and visitors. We comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993. Every employee undergoes pre-employment medicals, periodic and exit medicals. Risk profile assessments are done for every employee to determine the risks associated with their specific job requirements, health risk assessment and occupational hygiene monitoring surveys are conducted on a regular basis.

The health of our people not only extends to their physical wellbeing but also through the access to channels to Financial Service Providers who advise on personal finance and financial well-being.

CONSISTENCY IN UPHOLDING ENVIRONMENTAL WELL-BEING

We invariably strive to progressively reduce our impact on the environment by implementing cleaner manufacturing systems. This is a process done in tandem with installing energy-efficient technologies that accelerate our process optimisation, and help us focus on waste and water management, emissions  and other environmentally friendly alternatives that aid in reducing our carbon footprint.

As part of our ongoing strategic initiatives, Alfeco fully embraces its sustainable responsibility in becoming a model corporate citizen. Various ongoing programmes are underway to reduce and/or improve our manufacturing processes in order to reduce water consumption, recycle and reuse water, reduce emissions, repurpose waste streams and increase the effective recycling of our input raw material.
