Our Rolling Mill in Alrode is officially open and operational. Our team has been working diligently to ensure the successful operation and expansion of our facilities and our new Rolling Mill is one of them. Since the start of our project on February 21, 2021, we have achieved significant milestones in various areas of the construction process. On a daily basis, we have been addressing earthworks, formwork, shed fabrication and erection, infrastructure, fabrication and insulation, mechanical works, and electrical works. Our dedicated team has been working tirelessly, contributing their skills and expertise to ensure the smooth progress of these essential tasks.
To date, we have invested approximately 6.9 million man-hours in the commissioning process. Each phase of our project has required careful planning and execution. Steel fabrication took 32 months, earthworks took 10 months, civil works took 18 months, mechanical works took 32 months, and the commissioning phase itself was completed in just 6 weeks. Throughout these stages, we have utilized a full scope of skill sets, including mechanical engineers, fitters, turners, electricians, programmers (PLC & Scada), operators, and maintenance departments, all working in harmony to achieve our goals. We strongly believe in the importance of training and skill development.
During the commissioning phase, we provided training support to 40 learners. As we transitioned into the operational phase, we expanded our training program to accommodate 75 learners per shift, totaling 300 learners. Furthermore, we have maintained a balanced gender composition among our learners, ensuring equal opportunities for all. Our efforts have resulted in the successful expansion of our product range and capacity. From billet to finished products, we have made significant strides in meeting market demands. We are proud to announce that our operations will be ramped up to produce 22,000 units per month. Additionally, our products meet certification standards set by SAB and BSEN, ensuring the highest quality and compliance with industry regulations.
Looking ahead, we are excited to explore new avenues of growth. We envision a singular product range that avoids conflict between light and medium sections, allowing us to focus on meeting market demand consistently. As part of our continuous innovation efforts, we are also commencing trials of stainless steel to expand our product offerings. By diversifying our portfolio, we aim to cater to a wider range of customer needs and strengthen our position in the industry.
